Technical Environment (Development) Inspection tasks associated with a customer to customer fiber route for a nationwide corporation. The fiber crossed Iowa. My inspection was for a 60 mile section from Peosta to Independence, IA

   Technical Environment (Creation) Work with counties and cities to acquire permits as construction crews approached non-permitted cities and counties. Inspected work performed to ensure quality network would be turned over to the customer at the end of the project.

Project Highlights Stimulus Package-RUS Coding: Provide broadband internet access to Mountain Rural Telephone Co-op customers in a four county area of eastern Kentucky. Work is being done in five phases and includes 111 wire centers at an estimated cost of $78 million and scheduled to complete in three years.

Technical Environment (Development) Generate schematics used to order material and provision fiber for new fiber networks in a four county area in eastern Kentucky.

   Technical Environment (Creation) Take information from staking sheets, generate schematics that indicated size, length, and placement of cable needed to wire an exchange or remote serving area with a new fiber network. While building schematics, QC staking sheets and provide updates to drafters for corrections.

Project Highlights Supervise Field Operations support team 

Technical Environment (Development) Served as an Office Operations Supervisor for Field Operations as required to assemble and deliver assignments to field personnel and then accept completed work back in the office. Oversaw operations to input work into appropriate government software and then to pass off packages for quality checks. Schedule and deliver supplies/work assignments, pick up completed assignments and training folders, assist instructors by taking fingerprints of trainees and fielding student questions.

   Technical Environment (Creation) Create lesson plans and teach classes in the local office for each operation just prior to the beginning. Worked with various government databases to check in/out assignments and input resulting data.

Project Highlights Set up and operate a Local Census Office in Longview, TX

Technical Environment (Development) Served as an Admin Clerk to set up filing system for applicants, employees, previous employees and ineligible applicants. Prepared to hire, train, and support addition of 1,500 employees that will count the population of a 13 county area located in East Texas.

Technical Environment (Creation) Worked with various government databases to track applicants. Used pool of applicants to screen and hire additional clerks, enumerators, crew leaders, and crew leader assistants. Technical Environment (Creation) Engineered and drafted work orders NTS and To Scale across New Mexico. Investigated and utilized new technologies to provide telecommunications services with the most options at the best return on investment. Worked with local Quest Engineering Office to suggest equipment locations to avoid conflicts and to ensure compliance with local policies.

Project Highlights Planned and implemented work orders for telecommunications services when large developments were initiated. Planning included new subdivisions, industrial parks, and retail malls and strip centers.

Technical Environment (Development) Was a member of a larger team that included members from Central Office, Maintenance, and Obligatory personnel. Good communications with these team members insured that Central Office equipment grew with Outside Plant requirements; maintenance issues were addressed while work orders were open and personnel were on-sight; and that plant was placed after any known right-of-way work was completed and ready to accept utility construction.

Technical Environment (Creation) Planning included 48 exchanges at the beginning and grew to 72 exchanges by retirement. Investigated and utilized new technologies to provide telecommunications services with the most options at the best return on investment. Worked with local governments to avoid scheduling conflicts and to ensure compliance with local policies.

Project Highlights Monitored progress of Engineering and Construction tasks involved in installation of high-speed circuits in North and East Texas. Intervened when scheduled tasks were in jeopardy of missing scheduled dates.

Technical Environment (Development) Was a member a team of specialists from all departments involved in meeting circuit completions schedules. The team’s focus was to remove redundant steps and implement new processes to allow circuits to be completed faster.

Technical Environment (Creation) Accomplished the goal set for circuits completed on time for 2005. Goals were raised in 2006 and were again met.

 

Verizon Kilgore, TXOutside Plant Technician January 1995 – June 2005

Project Highlights Performed Outside Plant engineering and monitoring when applications for high-speed circuits required new plant to be built. Was assigned to 50 towns in East Texas.

Technical Environment (Development) Researched and determined when circuits could be built without construction. When outside plant construction was required, work orders were issued to build necessary plant.

Technical Environment (Creation) Worked in environments were only immediate communications needs were met, as well as in environments where future growth was considered and included in work orders. All work orders were designed to comply with annual budget constraints.

 

Project Highlights Prior to assignment to above duties, but in the same job classification, had been assigned to researched and determine when plant reached maximum fill for 14 exchanges. This position was involved with both voice and data needs.

Technical Environment (Development) When plant was not at maximum fill, solutions were given to serve applicants without constructing new facilities. When maximum fill was reached, work orders were detailed and given to construction to provide requested service.

Technical Environment (Creation) Worked in environments where only the immediate communications needs were met as well as in environments where future growth was considered and included in work orders. Budgetary compliance was met.
